Fundraising
Opportunities
The
Oatmill Cinema prides itself in supporting local sporting clubs,
community groups, schools and selected businesses with their fundraising
ventures.
There
are two ways in which the cinema will support the community:
- PREMIERE
FUNDRAISING SCREENINGS
We regularly hold fundraising screenings
for premieres of films, which prove to be a great way to raise
funds.
- DONATION
PACKS
We donate film tickets, candy bar vouchers
or do cross promotions to help in fundraising predominately to
assist in fundraising activities.

you are a sporting group, club or organisation or community group
and would like to request a donation

WANT
TO KNOW MORE ABOUT A FUNDRAISING SCREENING?
Here
we will outline how The Oatmill Cinema fundraising nights work and
how they will benefit your business / organisation / group.
- All fundraising
events take place on the opening night of the film, which is a
Thursday.
- We require
$10.00 per ticket for 100 or less sold, 9.00 per ticket for 101
plus sold - the balance is your profit.
- You can name
your price on the tickets - we recommend you sell tickets for
$13.50 and up.
- In the past
groups have included a light supper, which can be as simple as
sandwiches or cheese and crackers. This is a great way to increase
the ticket price and make more of an event out of your evening.
This will need to be organised by your committee.
If you do provide supper you can add and extra dollar (or more)
to the ticket price for this, making ticket prices $14.00.
Supper and refreshments is to be served in the
foyer.
Procedure:
To be included
in this great fundraising venture simply send a letter,
Attention Tracey Haggett, to 7 Percy
Street, Mount Gambier, SA 5290
expressing your interest.
- Once received
we will send out a confirmation letter.
- You will
be placed on a list and when your turn comes and a suitable movie
is on offer, we will approach you to see if you are interested.
We do warn that you may not receive much notice for the function
date. We work with Adelaide to confirm the movies, dates and times
and sometimes this may come with little warning - 3 weeks or less.
- If you accept
the movie we have offered we can confirm times and dates and issue
you with tickets to sell. We will still sell tickets at the cinema,
and all tickets sold here will go towards your profits.
- We ask that
a contact person touches base with management staff at the cinema
on the Tuesday before the Thursday screening. To ensure we have
sufficient staff rostered on we like to see how ticket sales are
going and to confirm details for the night (i.e. tables for supper,
raffle ticket sales, lucky seat prizes etc (the last two points
are a way for you to create more revenue, although must be organised
at your end)). Any unsold tickets can be brought back then and
sold from the cinema.
- On the opening
night, you will bring all money you have received for the tickets
with you to the cinema and any left over tickets you haven't sold.
We will then work out your profit.
How
the cinema determines who gets which film as a premiere:
We have alot of groups approach us requesting a particular film
to have as a fundraising event. Because of the popularity and success
of The Oatmill Cinema's fundraising screenings there are quite a
few groups already on the waiting list. For this fact it may not
be possible to get exactly which film you would prefer.
When a film becomes available that we wish to use for a fundraising
event we first think about what audience it is suitable for. If
it is an action film we would think that it would be more suitable
for a football club or like. So we would look at who was first in
line out of the suitable candidates and ring them. If they decline,
we would follow onto the next in line.
So if you approached us from a kindergarten we would only contact
you when a suitable film became available, not just if you were
next on the list.
We cannot
guarantee any of our customers a particular date or month for their
event, so please keep this in mind when organising your fundraisers.
What we can
guarantee is that our the cinema will work as hard as possible to
deliver a highly rewarding fundraising event for your group / business
/ organisation. The effort and organisation will pale in comparison
to the great evening you will have here at The Oatmill Cinema.
We
will be glad to include you on our list for future events, so please
follow the correct procedure to ensure all groups are treated equally.
Information
on current fundraising event will always be advertised in our weekly
guide.
DONATIONS
& SPONSORSHIP
If
you are a sporting group, club or organisation or community group
and would like to request a donation or sponsorship here are the
guidelines and procedures for doing so.
We
will only support a club, group, organisation once per year, so
please choose your event carefully to ensure you get the most benefit
out of our donation.
We
prefer that all donations be used for fundraising activities. If
we believe a request to not be for a suitable reason we may decline.
Please
understand that here at the cinema we receive many requests per
week.
We are an independent small business.
We do need to make a profit.
We do need to monitor the request we receive...
However generous we wish we could be, we do need to have limits.
Procedure:
- All requests
need to be put before a board to ensure all are treated equally.
- Please
ensure your request are submitted at least 2 weeks before your
event. As stated above, all requests need to be put before
a board so we would like time to review the request and reply.
If you were to put in a request at short notice it may be overlooked
or declined.
- For this
to happen a request letter must be sent,
Attention Tracey Haggett, to 7 Percy Street, Mount Gambier,
SA 5290
- Please make
sure you include a reply address, as once we have reviewed your
request we will send out the response via post.
- Should your
request has been granted we will ask you nominate one person to
collect whatever we have offered. Please call the cinema stating
that your club etc. would like to accept the offer and the nominated
person will come and collect it at the cinema's earliest convenience.
PLEASE ADVISE THE CINEMA PERSONALLY BY PHONE BEFORE COLLECTING
